Multi-level shelf for aluminum profiles

TechnoAlpin AG is the undisputed market leader in the production of technical snow systems for ski slopes. For more than 30 years, the company has been involved in the development of snowmaking systems, providing complete and locally adapted solutions for the joy of skiing all over the world.

The systems consist of a wide range of snow cannons and snow lances to ensure the production of fresh snow.

Due to the need to increase production, a modern factory was built in Bolzano, in the north of Italy. The location of the building among the dense development of the city center imposed many restrictions forcing a special solution.

The factory building has several floors and is located in the centre of Bolzano, just off the A22 motorway running from the Brenner Pass towards Verona.

Providing a large storage capacity with quick and easy access to any range of aluminium tubes used for lance production.

After analysing the requirements of TechnoAlpin’s employees  and taking into account the constraints of the new factory’s building,  the TwinTower® automated storage system  with a height of 17.5 m was designed. The system is located on the lowest level of the building (-1) and runs through all floors of the factory. The place of loading and unloading of aluminum pipes is located on level “0”.

The lances are delivered to the warehouse in packages by side forklift. The collection of individual pipes for the production process is carried out by an overhead crane directly from the shelves leaving the interior of the storage system at the loading and unloading station.
