Searching for articles in a traditional storage can be difficult and time-consuming, which is why PORTOS decided to implement TwinTower automated profile storage system, which deliver goods directly to the operator and provide easy and fast access to a wide range of assortments. Short waiting times for items to be retrieved from the storage for further processing increase production efficiency.
We initially implemented 4 TwinTower storages, two equipped with 15 profile bin shelves and 4 truss shelves with a load capacity of 1500 kg, they measure 9150 mm and make full use of the storage space and two TwinTower measuring 6500 mm with 9 profile bin shelves and 4 truss shelves with a load capacity of 750 kg. TwinTower automated storage systems consist of two storage columns and a lift whose task is to move the shelves to a loading-unloading station where the articles are retrieved or replenished. Storage management is performed by means of WMS software with an operator panel equipped with a colour touch screen, ensuring full control over stock levels and material flow.
After 3 years of implementation, with the construction of a new production hall, Portos company decided to implement two more TwinTower automated storage systems for storing profiles, measuring 9150 mm, with 55 trussed shelves with a load capacity of 750 kg each. The TwinTower systems allowed a significant saving in storage space and a quick and easy access to the profiles.
