High storage in low buildings

Feldmann Metall & Schmiedekunst GmbH is a family-owned company that has been manufacturing stainless steel, aluminum and wrought iron components in Germany for over 40 years. The company’s product range includes balustrades, railings, doors, locks and fittings.

With the continuous development and expansion of the offer, the company decided to expand the storage space for storing long elements. Due to the lack of space available for the construction of a high-bay storage, it was decided to implement an automated storage system located in the immediate vicinity of the building. For this purpose the TwinTower automated storage system with two loading and unloading stations was implemented. The system was installed next to the company building and enclosed with sandwich panels. Items stored inside are delivered via stations to operators working in the building. Automated storage system measures almost 20 meters and has got 42 shelves with a load capacity of 3000 kg, which allows to store up to 126 tons of articles with a length of up to 6.5 m. Installing the system adjacent to the building allowed for a large storage capacity and saved space inside the warehause. As an additional advantage, the automated storage system is equipped with control software that enables integration with the company’s ERP system, which ensures efficient inventory and order management. Thanks to the implementation of the system, operators can easily and quickly obtain a requested article, which ultimately reaches the customer faster. Goods are delivered and retrieved from moveable stations that are operated by control panels equipped with intuitive software.
