TransferTower sheet metal storage system

Perfopol is Poland’s largest manufacturer of perforated metal sheets and meshes. The current shape of the company is primarily a production of perforated metal sheets, all kinds of mesh and steel structures, complemented by a comprehensive and professional metal processing (CNC).

Along with continuous development, the company decided to modernize and automate the process of storing metal sheets used for manufacturing the offered products. The production process mainly uses sheets with dimensions of 3000 mm x 1500 mm, so it was necessary to create a capacious automated storage system for this dimension.  A TransferTower automated storage was installed in Perfopol’s warehouse section. The system is composed of 4 storage columns, 2 elevators and a transfer station providing access to a wide range of metal sheets via 1 loading and unloading station. The commissioned system can accommodate a maximum of 105 shelves with a capacity of 3 tons each, which enables the storage of 315 tons of metal sheets. The loading and unloading station, where the sheets are picked and replenished, is equipped with a hydraulic depalletiser to separate the sheets from the pallets, thus ensuring pallet-free sheet storage and saving space. Management of the database of stored materials and shelf transport is provided by the Smart WMS Standard control system.

The implementation of TransferTower automated sheet metal storage system has resulted in significant savings in warehouse space and provides quick and easy access to over 120 assortments of sheet metal. Operators waste no time searching for material, and each range is available in under 3 minutes. In addition, loading and unloading of sheets is done from one dedicated location. For sheets with dimensions of 6000 mm x 2000 mm, we implemented the MonoTower automated storage system.
