Due to the increase in production and the need to optimise the storage and processing of metal sheets, the company decided to implement the TwinTower automated storage system integrated with the laser cutting machine. TwinTower allows the storage of large quantities of sheet metal with dimensions of 6000 x 2000 mm and laser cutted parts. The storage system consists of 2 storage columns which allow for the storage of materials on movable shelves and is integrated with the loading-unloading system of the laser cutting machine. TwinTower contains two stations – the first one equipped with a depalarizer, moving along the track where the delivery of new sheet packs is carried out, and the second one delivering and receiving sheets from the loading-unloading system of the laser. In addition to freeing up space in the production hall, this solution enables easy and quick access to metal sheets and cutted parts, which can also be stored on the shelves of the storage system. The storage consists of a support structure almost 12 metres high, equipped with 52 shelves with a load capacity of 5,000 kg, including 8 shelves that have a fully filled bottom onto which the laser cut-outs are deposited. The storage system is equipped with Baumalog software, which provides the necessary database and the ability to carry out loading, transport and unloading operations, as well as full diagnostics and manual movements of all drives.
